We had an AMAZING experience at the Old Town Grill. We had a party of 8 that sat on the back patio on a perfect Saturday afternoon. We were greeted right away by Chef John Sanders (check out his bio on the OTG website). We had the perfect meal. Chef Sanders offered a choice of a fresh spring mix salad with an amazing orange vinaigrette dressing or his family recipe for clam chowder. I chose the salad and wasn’t disappointed. Except, I turned down his family recipe for the chowder. What was I thinking? So I had a taste of my wife’s chowder and WOW!!! It was amazing. When I go back, not if, I will be seriously conflicted on what to get. The salad or the chowder. In fact, I might ask for the soup and salad for my lunch or dinner (with the baguette he served). I know this place is very well known for the amazing burgers they serve. The buns alone are a site. And the blend of meats he uses for his burgers are the perfect blend of lean and juicy. Every person in our group of eight loved their meals. Every plate cleaned. How often does that happen? And the service. John came in and shared his story with us (I don’t know if he does this with all his customers, but he did with ours and it was SPECIAL) before we ordered and he had us on the edge of our seats. Made it difficult for us to choose, and even then, no one regretted the decision they made. Ethan and Natalie were the perfect compliments to our special meal. Perfect service to go along with a special meal. It was the first time at the OTG for half of us. All of us left talking about what a great meal, what a special team, and how soon we will be going back. Our compliments and thanks to Chef Sanders and to Natalie and Ethan. A memorable afternoon for every one of us.

We stumbled upon this spot on our drive from Tahoe to SF and absolutely loved it. We got the chicken salad, salmon sandwich, and elk burger. Everything was cooked incredibly, the salmon was delicious with crispy outside and juicy inside and the burger was done perfectly as well. Loved the garlic curly fries as well - overall a very reasonably priced lunch! In addition to amazing food, the staff and chef/owner were so warm and welcoming with some of the best service we’ve had anywhere. They were so attentive and friendly and even gave us cookies for dessert! Truly the best little spot we could’ve lucked into on our drive today, and we definitely look forward to returning the next time we’re out this way.

We had a very nice meal at the Old Town Grill. The counter staff was over the top friendly. The owner came out and chatted with us more than once. They even came out to check on refills, which is not normal for a grill with no table service. The place looks nice and lived in like a place with Old Town in it's name should. The service was fast friendly and tasted good. The burger was a little closer to well than I would have liked, but they serve wild meats (elk, buffalo, wild boar were on the menu) so perhaps that's a precaution. Great friendly place to grab a bite and have a chat.

Delicious. I got the pastrami burger and Swiss with grilled onions. Fantastic hamburger. My side was grilled veggies. I recommend the grilled veggies. Very good. Service was great. Cashier friendly and helpful. Server was nice and efficient.

A friend and I plus our two girls came in for lunch this afternoon. This was my first visit here and I was honestly a bit overwhelmed by the menu selection because everything sounded delicious; we probably stood there for a good ten minutes before we decided on what to order! I ordered the Beast Burger with a side of grilled veggies and my daughter got a Small Cheeseburger with a side of fries and we shared a Strawberry Malt, while our friends ordered a Chicken Dijon Sandwich and her daughter got a John Studebaker's Wheel and they shared a Mint Chip Milkshake. Both of us were super satisfied with our orders and had no leftovers (except our kids). 😅 Everything came out hot and all at once. Before we even finished our meals, a server came by to give us all a complimentary piece of chocolate or cookie! The service was *impeccable* from the second we walked through the door to the moment we stepped back outside, and every single employee was so friendly, personable and helpful. The atmosphere was definitely fitting of its name, whimsically themed and well-kept. We chose the window seats so we could people-watch, but there was more seating in the back area with a wall heater burning hot (it was a really cold day). There's even a birdcage that usually contains a parrot but sadly it wasn't there today. We will definitely be back here again and again!!!

Pesto grilled chicken sandwich was wonderful BUT the Thompson blue cheese waffle fries possibly the best side I've had in years. The place is adorable and as eclectic as most of Placerville. Owner and staff were equally wonderful. The complimentary after meal macaroon after our meal put a lovely bow on the whole experience.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ AN UNFORGETTABLE FIND IN PLACERVILLE — OLD TOWN GRILL! We stopped by Old Town Grill in Placerville for what we thought would be a quick lunch, and it turned out to be one of the best meals and experiences of our trip. The food was absolutely outstanding — the mushroom burger was to die for, the tender chicken was perfect for the kids, the curly fries were delicious, and the soup was such a comforting treat on a cold day. Everything tasted fresh, hearty, and prepared with such care. The hospitality here is truly something special. We met the owner, John, who was incredibly warm and welcoming, along with his wonderful staff who made us feel right at home. They were also so welcoming of our little dog, which meant the world to us — it’s rare to find a place that treats both families and pets with such kindness. And, of course, the star of the afternoon was Sierra, the beautiful macaw who completely enchanted our kids (and the adults too!). She added so much joy and charm to our lunch — the smiles around our table said it all. If you’re anywhere near Placerville, you must stop by Old Town Grill. Amazing food, wonderful people, pet-friendly hospitality, and a truly memorable atmosphere. Highly, highly recommended! 🍔💛🦜🐶

Love the atmosphere here. They offer indoor and outdoor patio seating. The Chef is awesome 😎 and our waiter was great. Fast service and pet friendly. My burger was awesome, as well as, the garlic curly fries. My sister always enjoys their grilled chicken sandwich with pesto spread, she can't seem to order anything else they have to offer lol because she's in love with their chicken sandwich.

Excellent Gluten-free choices. Great food, service, in downtown Placerville. We will definitely return on our next visit to the town. Soup was very good and burgers were perfect and reasonably priced.
